The Amurrio Harro association will celebrate its fifth anniversary this Saturday, June 27th, with a day dedicated to LGTBIQA+ pride and festivities.

Five years ago, the association Amurrio Harro was founded with the aim of spreading the message that LGTBIQA+ pride is not solely an urban phenomenon, and that members of the community also exist and are proud in smaller towns. Among its various activities, one has become a yearly highlight: the pride day organized around the 28th.
This year, the significant day that merges celebration and advocacy will take place on Saturday, June 27th. An extensive program, running from morning to afternoon, has been prepared, with a call for public participation based on the sole condition of respectful conduct.
The rich and diverse schedule includes a 'social run' in the morning, organized by the Gorobel sports center, followed by a communal snack. After refueling, participants will have the opportunity to personalize their own tote bags. The main events will be held in Juan Urrutia square, with a contingency plan to move to San Antón if it rains.
Midday will feature a significant focus on advocacy with a public gathering. This will be followed by the awards ceremony for the shop window competition, where local bars and businesses decorated throughout the month will be recognized, alongside a raffle for a basket of local products.
Subsequently, a street parade will commence through the streets of Amurrio, accompanied by the festive tunes of the Beti Jai Fanfarre. The association's teams explained that a key objective this year was to spread musical performances throughout the town, thereby increasing the initiative's visibility beyond just those passing through the main square.
At 3:00 PM, a community meal will be held, followed by a concert by the group Bika to extend the festivities. The drag queens Las Fellini will return to Amurrio for a show at 5:15 PM. Jony DJ will keep the energy high by moving through the streets, getting the locals dancing and concluding the day's events.
Beyond Saturday, Amurrio Harro will continue its work by organizing talks and workshops, and providing information, materials, and advice about the LGTBIQA+ community, striving for a more diverse and free region.
