The Kortezubi City Council has unanimously approved an 875,000 euro budget, allocated to enhance municipal services and infrastructure, and to promote Basque language initiatives and cultural development.

The newly approved budget seeks to drive the development of Kortezubi, viewing it as a tool to improve the quality of life for its residents. To achieve this, the council has considered citizen contributions, incorporating several of their proposals into the 2026 budget.

"In a rural town like ours, with very dispersed neighborhoods, it is essential to manage economic resources with criteria of efficiency, sustainability, and neighborhood participation. Therefore, continuing to improve the accessibility of our roads is a priority. It is also important to create services that encourage more life in the town. A significant investment this year will be to launch the municipal gym project. With this initiative, we respond to one of the requests made to us in the listening meetings we hold in the neighborhoods."

A substantial portion of the budget will be allocated to infrastructure improvements, notably an investment of 235,900.95 euros to upgrade nearly a kilometer of the road connecting the Santa Ana and Idokilis neighborhoods. Additionally, 27,509 euros are reserved for the creation of a municipal gym, a project requested by residents, though its location is yet to be determined.
7,744 euros have been earmarked for the final stage of the Urban Planning General Plan (PGOU) review, leading to its definitive approval. Furthermore, 9,680 euros are reserved for various other projects. The recovery of historical memory is also a priority for the municipality, with the 2026 budget allocating 9,082.47 euros to this, following the success of the book Kortezubi 1900-1945.
The Basque language also holds a prominent place in the budget, with 17,500 euros designated for the Euskara Lantzen Kortezubin program. Investment in bibliographic funds is also planned to keep the municipal library updated. Finally, to boost sociocultural dynamism, subsidies are foreseen for local associations such as Bolunzulo Kultur Elkartea, Gure Arbasoen Herria, the Association of Retirees, and Busterri Herri Kirol Kluba.
