A 90-year-old person has died from heatstroke in a Bizkaia residence, and Osakidetza has attended to 44 individuals affected by high temperatures.

A 90-year-old individual has died in a residence in Bizkaia, marking the first fatality from the extreme heatwave in the province. The Department of Health has confirmed the death.
According to data from Osakidetza, the Basque Health Service has attended to a total of 44 people in the Basque Country (CAV) for heat-related issues as of 7:00 PM this Tuesday. This figure doubles that of the previous day. Since the extreme heat episode began on Sunday, 91 individuals have required medical attention.
The cases attended this Tuesday involved individuals aged between 10 and 90 years. Twenty were treated on-site and discharged, while 24 required transfer by ambulance to a hospital or health center for follow-up, most without serious complications.
By territory, Bizkaia has the highest number of heatstroke cases attended, with 30 (including the fatality). Gipuzkoa has recorded 14 cases, and Araba has had none.
