Nearly a hundred people, specifically 97, have been arrested by the Ertzaintza in Bizkaia over the first three months of the year due to recidivism. Of these, 56 were responding to judicial warrants. Furthermore, another 539 individuals have been placed under investigation, according to data released Friday by the Security Department of the Basque Government.
In Bilbao, the number of arrests for committing the same crime more than once totals 59 individuals during the first quarter. The most frequent offenses among repeat detainees are those related to property and the socioeconomic order, accounting for 21 detentions for these crimes committed on multiple occasions.
Within these offenses, thefts involving force against property are the most common, with 11 detentions, followed by thefts with force in shops and other enclosed spaces, which amount to 10 arrests.
In Gipuzkoa, the Ertzaintza has arrested 33 repeat offenders, 8 of whom were on judicial warrants, and investigated 171 individuals. In Donostia, 19 arrests have been recorded in the first quarter for repeat criminal offenses. In Araba, detentions total 21, with 6 for judicial orders, and 107 people investigated. In Gasteiz, the number of arrests in the first three months stands at 17.
Across the entire autonomous community, crimes against property and the socioeconomic order are the most prevalent among repeat offenders, with 34 detentions in the first quarter. Among these, thefts involving force against property (18 detainees) and thefts with violence and intimidation (15 detainees) are the most significant.
