The Guggenheim Museum of Bilbao was the venue for the "big night" of commerce at the second edition of the Zabalik Awards. These accolades, organized by EL CORREO with sponsorship from BBVA and the Provincial Council of Bizkaia, were presented by Ainhoa García and attended by Marta Alonso, BBVA's Northern Territorial Director, and Cristina Múgica, Director General of Territorial Competitiveness and External Promotion for the Provincial Council of Bizkaia.
This year, several commercial businesses received awards. The 'Local Entrepreneurship' award went to Cabecita de Ajo, accepted by Ander Lantarón. In the 'Sustainability' category, Con Eco received the award, represented by Amaia Cáceres. The 'Commercial Innovation' award was given to El Equipo de Viaje, with Araceli Álava and Alberto Gómez as representatives. The 'Family Business' award was for Panadería Crosta, collected by Laura and Alejandra Fernández. Ruiz de Ocenda received the 'Special Commerce Award 2026', represented by Virginia Fernández, Juan Marchante, and Blanca Marchante. Paragüería Leoz secured the 'Business Transmission' award, received by Lourdes Leoz. Librería Cámara was honored with the 'Centennial Commerce' award, represented by Javier Cámara and his niece Ariane Cámara. Lastly, Joyería Matia received the 'Career Achievement Award', accepted by Jesús and Enrique Matia.
Among those participating in the awards ceremony were José María Fernández, BBVA's Northern Territorial Director of SMEs; María López Negrete, president of Cecobi; Beatriz Rodríguez, head of Internal Control in Risk North at BBVA; EL CORREO journalists Luis Gómez and Virginia Melchor; and Carmen Manrique, Business Director at EL CORREO.
Numerous authorities and notable figures attended the gala, including Carlos García Buendía, Government Subdelegate; Bilbao councilors Jon Bilbao, Kontxi Claver, Nora Abete, María del Río, Xabier Jiménez, Esteban Goti, and Esther Martínez; Luis Arbiol, president of BilbaoDendak; Mikel Hidalgo, PNV candidate for Mayor of Bilbao; and Amaia Ruiz, commercial director, Janire Ortega, Juan Alberto Viejo, and Jon Arrieta, from EL CORREO, among others.
