The Basque Meteorology Agency, Euskalmet, has announced that stormy conditions will persist in Bizkaia this Sunday afternoon. A yellow alert has been activated, valid from 2:00 PM to 8:00 PM, anticipating locally strong showers, accompanied by hail and wind gusts that could reach up to 80 kilometers per hour.
Precipitation is expected to exceed 15 liters per square meter in one hour. Similar conditions have been experienced in recent days, leading to overflowing drains and water accumulation on roads. Heavy rainfall and hailstorms have been a predominant feature of May this year.
“"For intense showers, from 2 PM to 8 PM, especially in the east."
Meanwhile, AEMET has warned that this week will be cold for the time of year across much of the country, due to a humid air mass crossing the peninsula, which will also bring rain and a drop in temperatures to Bizkaia. Stormy phenomena are also expected on Monday and Tuesday afternoons, despite sunny mornings.
Throughout the rest of the week, until Saturday, May 16, unsettled weather is expected to continue in the province. Regarding temperatures, from Tuesday until the weekend, maximums will not exceed 20 degrees Celsius, with even cooler days anticipated, such as Friday, when the thermometer might not rise above 14 degrees Celsius.
