The Basque Government's Department of Security has issued a yellow alert for Bizkaia and Gipuzkoa due to persistent rainfall and rough sea conditions expected from Thursday night.

The alert will be in effect from 9:00 PM on Thursday until the same time on Friday. Rainfall is expected to be moderate and persistent across the Cantabrian slope, with potential accumulations exceeding 60 liters per square meter within a 24-hour period.
In addition to the rain, thunderstorms are possible, with a chance of hail on Friday, particularly in coastal areas. According to Euskalmet, the weather is expected to improve by Saturday, with rainfall decreasing significantly in the second half of the day.
A separate advisory has been issued for maritime navigation within the first two miles of the coast, as wave heights are expected to reach up to 3.5 meters.
