Irun hosted its public Alarde this morning, celebrating its 30th anniversary with 13 cantineras supported by their families, friends, and neighbors. From half-past eight in the morning, the music of the companies filled the air as they headed towards Plaza Urdanibia to pick up their respective cantineras.
By half-past nine, the square had become the event's focal point. The cantineras, controlling their nerves and happy to participate, gathered in the center as the Band played. Shortly after, the 'Arrancada' began, a procession down San Marcial street towards Plaza de San Juan, met with applause from attendees.
Among the most special moments were the incorporation of the City Flag, received by the Bidasoa company, followed by Infantry volleys. From the solemn Hymn of San Marcial, they moved to the joy of the descent towards El Juncal church with the sound of the 'Joló', which in the afternoon would be replaced by the 'Rataplán'. They performed this descent arm-in-arm, with songs and dances, in a lively atmosphere.
After further volleys, the procession concluded with the Church Ascent, with fewer people on the sidewalks, completing the route to reach the hermitage of Santa Elena.
