Argentine Basque Diaspora Visits Arratia

Events will be held in Zeanuri, Igorre, and Areatza to showcase the diaspora's reality and promote Basque culture.

The Argentine Basque Diaspora will visit Arratia in October with events in Zeanuri, Igorre, and Areatza, aiming to highlight the diaspora's reality and promote Basque culture.

Driven by stakeholders from Areatza, Dima, and surrounding towns, events will take place in Zeanuri, Igorre, and Areatza. Among other activities, Argentine payador Wilson Saliwonczyk will share the stage with bertsolaris Xabier Paya and Oihana Bartra. The documentary Transmisioa from Igorre will showcase the experiences of Basque communities in Argentina. Areatza will feature the Herencia Viva project from Tandil, traditional Basque sports (herri-kirolak), dances, and a concert by the group Arbasoak.
The initiative aims not only to raise awareness of the diaspora's reality but also to connect Arratia with the international Basque network and strengthen the Basque language and culture as tools for transmission.
The schedule is as follows:
On October 3rd, Thursday, in Zeanuri, at 7:30 PM, a Payada + bertsoak session will be held at the Culture House, featuring bertsolaris Xabier Paya and Oihana Bartra, and payador Wilson Saliwonczyk. Eñaut Intxaurraga will serve as the gai-emaile (presenter).
On October 4th, Friday, in Igorre, at 7:00 PM, the documentary Transmisioa by Aitzol Salaberria Goñi will be screened at the Lasarte Hall, followed by a discussion with its creator.
On October 5th, Saturday, in Areatza, various events will occur: at 12:00 PM, traditional Basque sports with the Jasoka group; at 1:30 PM, a street parade with musicians from the Eingo school; at 3:00 PM, a communal meal at the Aldamin restaurant; at 6:30 PM, a screening of the Tandil documentary; at 7:00 PM, a dance event with Ander Elorduia; at 8:00 PM, the Tandil dance group will perform with Xabi Aburruzagaren; and at 9:30 PM, a concert by the group Arbasoak.
