Ekin Day to Boost Entrepreneurship in Álava on May 21st

The Europa Palace will host awards for top business ideas and training on funding opportunities.

The Ekin Day event will return to the Europa Palace on May 21st, bringing together Álava's entrepreneurial community to award innovative business ideas and provide training on funding opportunities.

The main event for entrepreneurship in Álava, the Ekin Day, is set to take place again on Thursday, May 21st, at the Europa Congress Palace. This event aims to inspire through notable stories and careers within Álava's business sector. This central day of the Álava Emprende initiative will be an excellent opportunity to discover the best entrepreneurial projects in the territory.
The Ekin Day will be divided into two main parts: the Ekin Day Gala and Ekin Invest. The gala will feature the awards ceremony for the winners of the Tu Idea Cuenta competition and Álava Emprende recognitions, concluding with a dialogue with a fashion designer. Meanwhile, the Ekin Invest section will offer training on funding methods and advice for entrepreneurs.
The main ceremony will begin at 7:00 PM, where awards will be presented to the best business ideas of the past year. Admission is free, but an invitation must be requested. Álava Emprende will recognize the winners of the Tu Idea Cuenta competition from among 18 finalists. This contest has broken records in its 22-year history, with 84 projects submitted.
The main award categories and finalist projects include: Ideas (Fading Mind, Ikaskide, Wellflow IA+), Sustainability (Aqualens, Ecoweld, Revibat), Commerce-Tourism (Hostoa, Kimaiwi, Gustazos Postrería), Agri-food (Microfire, Basati, Food Saver Smart Fridge), Industrial (Ekimen, Bioargi, Kere-Biki), and Health (Gukare, Oral Plat, Cabamed IA).
Additionally, special awards will be given for corporate social transformation, the promotion of sustainable mobility and logistics, the best integration of AI, and the best project presentation. These accolades are made possible thanks to the participation of various sponsoring entities, including Fundación Vital, Aclima, Gasteiz On, Eroski, and the University of Deusto.
The Ekin Invest session, scheduled from 4:30 PM to 6:30 PM, will cover key aspects of securing funding. This session will explain what investors look for, how to prepare a startup for growth, and common mistakes when seeking investment. Entrepreneurs will also have the opportunity to meet with local organizations that manage aid and funding for projects at various stages of development.
