From Cold to Heat: Vitoria and Álava Expecting 30ºC Highs This Week

A significant temperature increase is expected in Vitoria-Gasteiz and Álava this week, reaching up to 30 degrees Celsius on Thursday and Friday with predominantly sunny skies.

The week will transition from colder to warmer conditions, with sunshine becoming prevalent and thermometers rising to 30ºC by Thursday and Friday. This marks a shift from nearly winter-like days to summer-like weather.
Conditions will be ideal for the opening of the swimming pool season at Mendi and Gamarra, which are scheduled to open on Friday, May 22nd. This day is forecast to be the warmest of the entire week.
The weather will gradually improve throughout the week. Monday and Tuesday will be cloudier with milder, spring-like temperatures. From Wednesday onwards, the sun will dominate, bringing temperatures that could reach or exceed 30ºC.
Saturday might see a complete change in weather patterns again, but it is still too early to confirm.
According to Euskalmet, Monday, May 18th, will see cloudy skies, mainly with mid and high-level clouds, and little chance of rain. In the afternoon, more compact clouds may appear, potentially bringing weak showers in the northeast. Daytime temperatures will hover around 19-20ºC.
On Tuesday, May 19th, expect a mix of clouds and clear spells, with cloudiness increasing in the afternoon and probable showers in the northeast. Temperatures will continue to rise, ranging from 9ºC to 23ºC in Vitoria-Gasteiz.
Wednesday, May 20th, is expected to be very sunny with temperatures more typical of the season, reaching around 30°C in inland areas and 23-25°C on the coast. In Vitoria-Gasteiz, temperatures will range from 9ºC to 27ºC.
Thursday, May 21st, will begin with morning mist and fog, followed by partly cloudy or clear skies. Light variable winds are expected, and temperatures will rise slightly.
Friday, May 22nd, will see similar conditions with morning mist and fog, and partly cloudy skies. Temperatures are expected to rise slightly again.
On Saturday, May 23rd, the sky will be cloudy with moderate showers, more frequent and abundant on the Cantabrian slope, and a possibility of thunderstorms. Temperatures will decrease.
