Firefighting crews successfully brought the forest fire in the Galarreta area of Aizkorri-Aratz natural park under control early this morning.

The fire began on June 19. Although the flames reached the vicinity of Gipuzkoa, the local beech forest acted as a natural barrier, preventing the fire from crossing the border.
Ground teams worked throughout the night, with aerial support joining at dawn. The advanced command post has been established in Arriola due to its strategic vantage point, while the operational base remains in Zalduondo.
As a preventive measure, the provincial order restricting the use of fire and setting limitations due to fire risk remains in effect this Thursday.
