The town of Samaniego is celebrating its fifth edition this Friday, focusing on the wines of Rioja Alavesa and local gastronomy.

Samaniego in Wine is ready to celebrate its fifth edition, reaffirming its core purpose: to attract wine tourists to this small town in Rioja Alavesa through a unique offering that combines the distinctiveness of its wines, the beauty of its landscape and heritage, and haute cuisine.
Jointly organized by the wineries Alútiz, Amaren, Baigorri, Bello Berganzo, Heredad de Aduna, Ostatu, Pascual Larrieta, and Remírez de Ganuza, along with the Palacio de Samaniego, the event will provide attendees the opportunity to explore the wide diversity of the region's wines.
The wine tasting will be the central focus of this unique gathering. Starting at 19:00, the gardens of the Palacio de Samaniego will become the perfect stage for the eight wineries in the association to showcase the authenticity of their wines.
Culinary creativity will be provided by chef Bruno Coelho from the restaurant Tierra y Vino, located in a 18th-century palace in the heart of Samaniego. This gastronomic proposal, backed by his recent Sol Repsol award and the prestigious Michelin Guide recommendation, aims to pay homage to the richness of Rioja Alavesa and the larder of Euskadi. The menu is a carefully crafted journey through the sea, mountains, and gardens of this territory. Attendees (few spots remaining at 80 euros) can enjoy a sequence of tapas designed to pair with the local wines.
The initiative 'Recorridos mano a mano' (Hand-in-Hand Tours) will continue until autumn. In these tours, two wineries from the association per route will introduce their facilities and vineyards, alongside other corners of this municipality in southern Euskadi, home to just 300 inhabitants, revealing why Samaniego is a special place for wine culture.
Although the event on May 9th was fully booked, there are still places available for the tours scheduled for June 20th (including a visit to the hermitage of Virgen del Valle), September 5th (access to the 16th-century tower of the church of La Asunción), and October 10th (focusing on the Matarredo neighborhood, with vestiges of wineries dating back to the 15th century and a visit to a historic underground cellar). Each tour costs 75 euros and includes a menu by Bruno Coelho.
