The Barakaldo City Council has denounced the burning of five containers that occurred early this morning in the neighborhoods of Gorostiza, Ansio, and Zuazo, condemning these "vandalic acts." The cost of these damages is estimated to exceed 5,000 euros.
In a statement, the local government expressed its "strongest condemnation" of these "uncivil behaviors," emphasizing that they represent "a serious harm to all citizens" and will generate "a significant economic cost for public coffers."
The Council reminds that "containers and urban furniture are public assets belonging to the community" and their repair or replacement "must be covered by municipal resources that could otherwise be used to improve services and infrastructure for everyone."
Furthermore, it warned that "these actions put the safety" of residents in the affected areas at risk. Therefore, it issued a call for "responsibility and civility" to "maintain a well-kept, safe, and respectful Barakaldo."
Additionally, it has requested neighborhood collaboration to help identify those responsible for these acts and has asked witnesses or anyone with information to report it to the Local Police.
